The Voice

ImageOk so last night I missed the newest episode of NBC’s “The Voice”. I was at an Elle Varner show at S.O.B in New York City’s SoHo and my DVR just decided to forget to record it. I’m bummed. I am and have always been a huge fan of the show and it’s format. The celebrity judges (Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton) pick singers based solely on their voice at the beginning of the competition. Once they get 16 singers on their individual teams, they proceed to mentor them and then eliminate the worst of the best until they get to 16 singers in the entire competition. From there America votes for their favorites and the coaches/judges send one singer home who was in the bottom three for that night. This process keeps up until a winner is chosen and the show is over.

They have a great social media presence. The Voice has a staff of what I assume are interns, posting updates about the show, the singers, and the coaches. These updates just don’t come on the night of the show, they are around during the entire time the season is on the air. And sometimes they post during the off season as well. They are on Facebook and Twitter.

America can vote via iTunes (by buying their fav singer’s song from that night), by texting and by calling on landline phones. Each person can vote up to 10 times a night. So far they haven’t had any voting glitches so I say it’s a pretty fool proof voting system.

The Voice airs Mondays at 8pm EST and the results show airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on NBC.

Check it out if you haven’t yet, the 2nd season is almost over.

If you have watched the show, what do you think about it? Let me know in the comments

About blackandtoldsocialmedia

At a very quick pace social media is becoming an essential part of everyday life. As a communications student at The City College of New York I am constantly learning new things about social media. With this blog I plan to spotlight social media news from a black person's perspective. No, I'm not going to get all "Black Panthers" on you but I hope to help you see the world of social media in a new light, the black light of course.
