WTF?: The “Him” problem of Facebook.

Have you ever noticed on your Facebook newsfeeds a status like , “I am on the phone with him right now, he is so funny” or “I am so lucky to have him in my life”? What is with that?

A guy friend of mine was talking with me about this. I honestly don’t understand it. If you are in a relationship with someone and you decide to mention them in a status, give them the dignity of mentioning their name. Unless you’re in a relationship with the Man upstairs, but that’s a whole other topic altogether.

In my very unsophisticated research I have noticed that women are most likely to do this in their statuses. Guys usually don’t talk about their lovers unless they are breaking up with them and women talk about their’s at all times no matter what the situation. Regardless of the reasoning for talking about your sweetie, I say refer to them by their name and not just “him” or “her”…why would you do that to them, why???

Have you seen a ridiculous status about someone else’s better half?  What did you think about it? Sound off below.

About blackandtoldsocialmedia

At a very quick pace social media is becoming an essential part of everyday life. As a communications student at The City College of New York I am constantly learning new things about social media. With this blog I plan to spotlight social media news from a black person's perspective. No, I'm not going to get all "Black Panthers" on you but I hope to help you see the world of social media in a new light, the black light of course.
